Americans stupidity

First watch this:

I have my own ideas about this, but I want to hear your thoughts:

How can we be so ignorant?

Is it because of our education system (if so, what makes it so bad?), our conservatism, our World War II arrogant mindset, our uncaring attitude...

And how do we fix it?

  1. oh wow, that's sad.

It's probably a mix of sucky education and ethnocentrism, but I think you also have to consider that there's bound to be some percentage of stupid ones among a large pool of interviewed people.

  2. Some (though not a lot) of the questions could also be too simple and cause ppl to overthink. If I were asked "Where is KFC from?" my thought process might be like, "Kentucky Fried Chicken... It can't be from Kentucky, because he's asking me where it's from, and that answer is too simple. But, if it's not from Kentucky, then I have no idea..." But, what comes out is, "Uhh, I don't know." :P Also, though, our education doesn't emphasize knowing a lot about other countries, or topical information about our own. We (hopefully) know that our government has three branches and operates with a balance of powers, but never in elementary school are you told who the Supreme Court Justices are, and sometimes even the vice president doesn't get a mention.

  3. But don't you think this is information we should all know so we can be a more well educated voting public?
